Adam Levine lost all his confidence when proposing.
The Maroon 5 frontman got engaged to Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo in July last year. The 35-year-old recalled how his normal self-assured attitude deserted him in that crucial moment.
“Doesn’t matter how certain you think you are. You still get down on that knee and you just get woozy and you’re like, ‘I’m doing this. Oh my god,’” he explained during an appearance on Live! with Kelly & Michael on Monday. “And you can’t be confident about it. It’s impossible. I’m a confident person, but I got down on that knee and everything changed immediately.”
Adam began dating Namibian Behati in May 2012 but split in March last year. However the couple reconciled shortly after, but the ups and downs of their relationship could have been why the Moves Live Jagger singer got so nervous that getting down on one knee didn’t seem to be enough.
“I lost my equilibrium. I had to get on the other one,” he laughed. “I remembered one thing about it, and I’m not going to share most of it because that’s for me obviously. But the one thing that I will say is that I did say at one point, ‘Both knees. Like look, I got on both knees.’ And it didn’t sound charming at all. Both knees and she’s like, ‘what?’”
After overcoming his proposal equilibrium, Adam and his 25-year-old fiancée are now in the thick of wedding planning. Their nuptials are reportedly taking place next month at a beach side location in Los Cabos, Mexico.
