Jared Leto is blown away by his nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Golden Globes 2014.
The 41-year-old actor and singer received the nomination for his role in Dallas Buyers Club where he plays an HIV-positive, transgender drug addict.
He has also received a nomination for the Screen Actors Guild Awards and the news is taking a while to sink in for the star.
“I’m so happy!” Jared said to People magazine. “I haven’t made a film in almost six years and to return to this kind of enthusiastic support is absolutely insane.”
Jared’s hiatus from the big screen has been down to his dedication to his band Thirty Seconds to Mars, of which he is the lead singer.
The band are currently touring America and Jared spoke to People from the band’s tour bus as it made its way to St. Louis for another concert.
When asked if he had any good luck charms to help him secure a win, Jared had his tongue firmly placed in his cheek.
“I have a lock of Daniel Day-Lewis’s hair and Marlon Brando’s toenails as my good-luck charms,” he joked.
“I figure that should do the trick. One in each pocket and I should be fine. No, I don’t have any [good-luck charms].”
Whether an Oscar nomination also comes Jared’s way remains to be seen but regardless of what happens the Fight Club star is just happy to be part of the celebrations.
“It’s been a journey and the best thing about the nomination is it shines a light on this little movie. I’m just the ambassador and it’s an honor,” he added.
