Lena Dunham has told Shia LaBeouf she “feels” him.
The former Transformers star was reportedly arrested for disorderly conduct on Thursday due to his behavior at Broadway musical Cabaret.
Lena, 28, has now joked that she can empathize with the actor’s behavior.
“I feel you Shia: In 1993 I was carried out of Les Mis screaming because I couldn’t handle the intimations of death,” she tweeted.
“‘You know you’re a f**kin’ G when you’re arrested during Cabaret.’ –Gillian Jacobs
“Seriously feel awful for the performers and am sorry to contribute to celebrity takedown culture but this is the best current event we have! (sic)”
Variety yesterday reported that Shia acted disruptively during the first act of the play, which stars Alan Cumming and Michelle Williams. He was apparently escorted out by police for disturbing the cast and fans.
Girls creator Lena has had Twitter beef with Shia in the past, after making fun of him for hiring a skywriter to apologize for plagiarizing cartoonist Daniel Clowes’ work. He responded by copying one of the actress’ former posts on the social networking site.
Lena wrote: “I’ve always felt, utterly and unchangeably, that only sociopaths hire skywriters. (sic),” to which Shia replied: “I don’t mind creating debate with thoroughly considered artistic expressions but I don’t want to offend with a tweet. Sorry world. (sic)”
Lena then posted with amazement that she “vaguely” thought she recognized the tweet, before realizing it was her own.
Shia has baffled fans with his self-proclaimed performance art recently, including an incident in Berlin when he appeared on a red carpet with a brown paper bag on his head reading: “I’m Not Famous Anymore.”
