Lady Gaga has “issued a pop emergency” in lieu of her new single being leaked.
The singer’s first tune from her new album ARTPOP, entitled Applause, was illegally posted on the internet last week.
Gaga was planning to officially release Applause on August 19, but she has decided to push the single’s availability forward in light of the circumstances.
“DUE TO HACKERS AN ABUNDANCE OF LOW/HIGH QUALITY LEAKS…WE ISSUE THIS POP MUSIC EMERGENCY…MONSTERS SPREAD THE WORD,” she wrote on Twitter Monday.
“MY NEW SINGLE ‘APPLAUSE’ IS OUT TODAY AND CAN BE HEARD ON UNITED STATES RADIO IN 15 MINUTES. INTERNATIONAL RADIO TO FOLLOW.
“POP MUSIC EMERGENCY #0DAYSTillAPPLAUSE MY NEW SINGLE COMES OUT TODAY. 911 SPREAD THIS MESSAGE.”
Although Gaga was initially upset by the leak, she is now taking events in stride.
The star is grateful for her fans and is excited about people listening to her new music.
“I LOVE BEING A POPSTAR! WE ARE CHEERING FOR YOU MONSTERS, STANDING OVATION FOR THE WORLDS MOST AMAZING FANS!” she tweeted.
“IM ON THE RADIO I CAN’T BELIEVE IT! IT FEELS LIKE THE FIRST TIME! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR *APPLAUSE,* WE ARE SO HAPPY YOU LOVE IT!”
Gaga will debut the single live at the end of this month.
The August 25 performance will mark a major triumph for the singer, who underwent hip surgery in February to treat a hip break, a labral tear and severe inflammation of her joints.
ARTPOP is due to reach shelves in November.
