Kim Kardashian reportedly chose her own engagement ring.
The reality TV star’s beau Kanye West got down on one knee on Monday, which was also Kim’s 33rd birthday. He rented an entire baseball stadium in San Francisco and hired a 50-piece orchestra to mark the special occasion, with all Kim’s family and friends climbing out of the dugouts after she accepted his proposal.
Kanye presented Kim with a 15 carat diamond ring by Lorraine Schwartz, but it’s been claimed the piece of jewelry was no surprise to the reality TV star.
“Kim had picked out her own Lorraine Schwartz engagement ring,” an insider told RadarOnline.
“[She] told Kanye to get the ring from Lorraine Schwartz because she loves the jeweler’s diamonds. She knew the proposal was happening; she just didn’t know when it would happen.”
It is claimed Kanye was involved in the process too and checked over many different sparklers before the final one was chosen. He was said to be keen for it to be a cut above the band Kim’s ex-husband Kris Humphries presented to her – and recently auctioned off following their 72-day marriage.
“Before Kim gave the ultimate seal of approval on the sparkler, Kanye looked at over 20 diamonds. The diamond has no flaws and has more sparkle than Kim’s previous ring,” the source explained.
Kim has already started thinking about what she wants for her big day. There has been speculation she might go down a different route than she did to Kris, as their wedding was criticized for being overly lavish. It cost a rumored $10 million and was aired on her TV show.
Although it’s been claimed Kim and Kanye could go for small nuptials, it seems that might no longer be the case.
“She may even have this one be more over-the-top than her wedding to Kris, with several possible ceremonies and receptions,” the source said.
“Kim wants [her and Kanye's daughter] Nori to walk down the aisle as a flower girl.”
The TV star has gushed about her new fiancé, calling him her best friend and saying how lucky she feels to be tying the knot with him.
