Kiefer Sutherland couldn’t sleep before filming the new series of 24.
The actor stars as Jack Bauer in the drama series, which initially concluded in 2010.
He’s now back with spin-off 24: Live Another Day, a 12-part series, which sees Jack come out of hiding in London to deal with a terrorist attack.
The 47-year-old was extremely nervous about returning to the screen as his alter ego.
“I was really scared,” he admitted to German magazine TV Movie.
“Before we started filming, I couldn’t sleep for a few nights.”
Luckily Kiefer soon had enough of a reason to be nodding off.
In order to keep up with the action scenes, the star had to embark on an intense fitness regime.
“I wouldn’t have been able to keep up otherwise!” he laughed.
“This role isn’t exactly all laughs.”
24 started in 2001 and racked up an impressive eight seasons before coming to an end in 2010.
The hardest part for Kiefer was saying goodbye to all the crew.
“When you work with 150 people for eight years, a lot happens,” he revealed.
“During the show’s run we had 36 weddings and 40 children were born. There were times when I was in the hospital more than I was on set!”
Kiefer has also been busy working on drama Forsaken, which stars Demi Moore.
His father Donald also co-stars and it’s the first time Kiefer has worked with him.
“My father is untouchable,” he marveled. “We were both nervous about working together, but it was an amazing experience.”
