Kerry Washington has been “beaming” since getting married.
The Scandal actress cannot help but show her inner glee after tying the knot on June 24 with American football player Nnamdi Asomugha.
Her television show castmates have noticed a clear change in her mood now that she has become a wife.
“She is beaming!” Guillermo Diaz told E! News. “She’s just so happy.”
“She says ‘my husband’ and giggles a dozen times a day,” Scott Foley added.
In addition to her recent nuptials, Kerry’s Emmy nomination has her in great spirits.
She shared that she couldn’t have achieved success on the show without her colleagues.
“The day of the Emmy nomination was our first table read,” Kerry revealed. “So I got to hang with the cast and the writers and the crew and really say to them, which I feel in my heart, that this nomination belongs to everybody, because there’s no way that you could play a character like Olivia Pope for 22 episodes without just reflecting the excellence around you.”
Despite her popularity, Kerry stays down-to-earth at all times.
Apparently the thespian makes the effort to ensure her colleagues are aware of how much they are appreciated.
“Kerry sets the tone,” boss Shonda Rimes explained. “She is selfless. Incredibly generous. She shows up on days when she’s not working just to cheer other people on.
“[She] knows the name of every single crew member. Buys people cupcakes. Knows everybody’s birthday. She’s incredible.”
However it’s not just Kerry who brings warmth to the set.
Most of the Scandal ladies get on well and are close friends.
“The women on our show are so affectionate you want to throw up in your mouth!” Darby Stanchfield, who plays Abby, laughed. “But it’s true! We are that close. When we wrapped last season, we went out for a three-hour dinner to talk about our lives.”
