Kendall Jenner fluffed her lines at last night’s Billboard Music Awards.
The 18-year-old model took to the stage to introduce Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer before their performance. The group are set to become big news after supporting One Direction, but Kendall couldn’t quite get her words out when presenting them to the crowd.
“The band about to rock the Billboard Awards comes from Down Under, but the direction they are heading is straight up. Recently, they made their debut on the Billboard 200 at number two,” she said.
“This summer – and now we welcome… Guys, I’m the worst reader. Um…They’re only getting bigger! Take a look.”
Kendall’s error didn’t go unnoticed, with many of the band’s fans flocking to social networking sites to express their displeasure. The half-sister of Kim Kardashian eventually posted her own message on Twitter, explaining her bad eyesight was to blame.
“Anndddd as if I wasn’t nervous already!!!! #NeverLeavinMyContactsAtHomeAgain! #LOL #LessonLearned (sic),” she wrote.
Things may not have gone quite to plan for Kendall, but she did look the part. The star donned a pair of sparkly cropped pants she dubbed her “party pants” and a barely-there white crop top.
It was a big night for Jennifer Lopez, who opened and closed the ceremony in Las Vegas. As well as debuting the official World Cup Anthem We Are One (Ole Ola) she picked up the Icon Award and used her speech to encourage people to think big.
“All you little ones sitting on the living room floor, have faith, dream big, think big,” she said. “And know that anything is possible, you never know where you might end up.”
