Kate Bosworth instantly knew she would work with Michael Polish “forever”.
The couple met on the set of new movie Big Sur back in 2011 after the director cast Kate as Billie in the film based on the 1962 Jack Kerouac novel.
They got engaged a year later and tied the knot in August of this year. But had it not been for this film, Kate’s certain the nuptials would never have happened.
“We’d spoken at a few events, and I went into my first big scene and he gave me one adjustment, and I thought, ‘Ahhh, I hope I nail this,’ because that’s such a brilliant adjustment, I know I’m going to work with him forever, I don’t want to mess this up.’ Really!” she told America’s OK! Magazine at the New York premiere.
“I didn’t even know him, really. Michael was on board for this film to write it, adapt it and direct it, and he asked to meet.”
Kate previously had a string of high profile relationships with fellow actors, including Orlando Bloom and Alexander Skarsgård, but it wasn’t until she met Michael she had the urge to settle down.
Michael’s feelings for his now wife were also instant. He joked that it even made filming difficult at times.
“I said ‘I’m going to marry that girl.’ I’m on the other side of the camera, and that’s going on,” he laughed.
“I knew Kate because there were times when I ran into her career going to a film festival and I always remembered going, ‘This actress is making interesting choices.’ When I was adapting this, I said ‘I wonder what Kate Bosworth’s doing. I’d like to meet her.’”
