Kanye West has criticized elected leaders and said he works on a “mission from God”.
The 37-year-old rapper was interviewed on radio station Power106 FM this morning. The newlywed star said that people who criticize him for comparing himself to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs are misinterpreting his meaning.
“You do not go against the power,” he warned his critics. “I’m working on one mission and that’s a mission from God. I’m gonna make it very clear exactly what I’m here to do. I’m here to help. I’m going to apply all the blessings I’ve got.”
After mentioning his “creativity and extreme genius” the hip-hop star talked about those in power in the US, claiming that they are not able to improve things from inside the White House.
“You can’t effect change from inside the White House like that… You gotta (sic) have the money,” explained Kanye, but went on to contradict himself saying that good ideas “usually aren’t connected to money as much… Creativity and extreme genius are extremely cheap.”
This is the second time Kanye has lashed out this week. On Tuesday night he took part in a talk at Cannes Lions Festival. In the speech he slammed Vogue photographer Annie Leibovitz for pulling out of his and Kim Kardashian’s wedding with little notice. The two stars tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Italy last month, with Kanye explaining it took him and Kim four days to perfect the eventual wedding shot they released on social media.
Today a representative for Annie has issued a statement about Kanye’s outburst to TMZ.
“Unbeknownst to Kanye, she was never confirmed,” explains Annie’s rep. “She would have loved to have taken their wedding portrait and was disappointed it didn’t happen.”
