Julianne Moore rarely watches the films she stars in.
The 52-year-old actress has been nominated for Academy Awards four times, but she doesn’t like to see herself on screen.
Julianne says she can do without viewing her performances over and over again.
“I don’t see the movies that I’m in. I really don’t,” she told Collider.
“I generally see a movie once, twice if I have to and then I never see it ever again. I like being in movies more than I like watching movies. I like to feel like I’m in the story, like I’m in the narrative, that’s where I get my biggest thrill. It’s like reading a book, like being inside something. Whereas when I watch something, particularly something that I’m in I have a different kind of experience, then I’m not quite as connected to the material.”
Julianne shares son Caleb, 15, and daughter Liv, 11, with her 43-year-old director husband Bart Freundlich.
The thespian stars in new horror remake Carrie and apparently no one in her family objected to her taking on scary role.
“My family doesn’t care, they’re all like, ‘Whatever Mom, it’s fine,’” she laughed.
“I gave the book to my son to read, I said I think this will be interesting for you to see. I love Stephen King, so it was interesting to do something that really is so iconic as a character and a story.”
Carrie, which also stars Chloë Grace Moretz, is released in cinemas from Friday.
