Julia Roberts told her husband she doesn’t “just eat a salad” on their first dinner date.
The American actress tied the knot with cameraman Danny Moder in 2002 and the pair have three children together.
Although Danny was married and Julia was dating actor Benjamin Bratt when they first met on the set of her film The Mexican in 2000, the pair had instant chemistry. Danny filed for divorce a year later and the brunette actress called things off with her former flame.
As she accepted the Supporting Actress award for her role in August: Osage County at the Hollywood Film Awards last night, Julia began her acceptance speech by thanking her husband. She gave the audience at glimpse at what their home life is like and recalled their early days.
“Fortunately, I am a hearty eater, which I told my husband 13 years ago when he asked me out on a date. ‘Prepare yourself. I won’t just have a salad.’ But that’s worked out for us,” she laughed.
Julia continued to reveal how much Danny has encouraged her when choosing film roles. She credits him with helping her land the role of Barbara Weston in the upcoming comedy flick.
“More than anything, the singular man who got me out of the house and on a plane to Oklahoma to do this [movie] – and it made me believe in myself in a whole brand new way – is my husband, who is here tonight… Danny Moder. I love you, babe,” she gushed to applause from the guests.
