Jennifer Lawrence is having “a meltdown” about her rise to fame.
The actress has become one of the biggest names in Hollywood since starring in The Hunger Games franchise and winning an Oscar earlier this year. Jennifer still finds it a struggle to get to grips with how her life has changed in the past few years.
“I’m just really starting to feel like a monkey in a zoo. I teeter on seeming ungrateful when I talk about this, but I’m kind of going through a meltdown about it lately,” she confessed to the September issue of Vogue. “If I were just your average 23-year-old girl and I called the police to say that there were strange men sleeping on my lawn and following me to Starbucks, they would leap into action…
“You have to make peace with it. I am just not OK with it. It’s as simple as that. I am just a normal girl and a human being, and I haven’t been in this long enough to feel like this is my new normal. I’m not going to find peace with it.”
Jennifer has spent time shooting a new movie in Montreal this year. Although the 22-year-old loved being in Canada, she still misses her family and her hometown in Kentucky. The blonde star is hoping she will soon adjust to living in the spotlight – or the movie industry will find a new star to focus on.
“It’s just that I’m still getting used to everything. It still makes me a little emotional, just to see how quickly everything kind of changes… that it changes so fast,” she explained. “So I’ve kind of been a big homebody lately. But I think eventually, one of these days, I guess when the next franchise starts and I’m not in it, and the new Jennifer Lawrence is born, then I’ll be able to go outside.”
Jennifer also revealed that she always knew she would be famous. Although the beauty had a very different career path mapped out, she felt destined for something else.
“Ever since I was really little, I’ve always had a very normal idea of what I wanted. I was going to be a mom and I was going to be a doctor and I was going to live in Kentucky,” she recalled.
“But I always knew that I was going to be famous. I honest to God don’t know how else to describe it. I used to lie in bed and wonder: ‘Am I going to be a local TV person? Am I going to be a motivational speaker?’ It wasn’t a vision. But as it’s kind of happening, you have this buried understanding: Of course.”
Jennifer went on to discuss her school days. While she may have fans all over the world now, she wasn’t quite as popular when she was growing up.
“I was a weirdo,” she explained. “I wasn’t picked on or anything. And I wasn’t smarter than the other kids. That’s not why I didn’t fit in. I’ve just had this weird anxiety. I hated recess. I didn’t like field trips. Parties really stressed me out.”
