Jennifer Connelly has “an easy intimacy” with Russell Crowe.
The pair have worked together on numerous projects, most recently Noah – the big budget screen adaptation of the biblical tale.
Russell takes the title role of Noah, with Jennifer playing his wife. The film co-stars Emma Watson, Douglas Booth, Ray Winstone and Sir Anthony Hopkins.
“We have an easy intimacy. We act together like the best kisses: we both bring equal passion,” Russell explained to Allure magazine about his close bond with Jennifer.
They also collaborated on the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind, which is where Jennifer met her real life husband Paul Bettany. The 2001 movie won Jennifer the Academy Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Jennifer, 43, was recently cast as the lead in Paul’s directorial debut Shelter, due out later this year.
“One couldn’t feel more safe as an actor than knowing that the director’s your husband. It’s like, Oh, if I really make a fool of myself, I can just say, ‘Honey, can you please not put that in the movie?’ That was a great perk,” Jennifer laughed.
The couple tied the knot in 2003 and have two children together Agnes and Stellan, as well as Jennifer’s son from a previous relationship, Kai.
“I knew that we were going to be done after number three. That’s enough for us.
“It sounds like I’m bragging terribly but he’s well rounded, and he’s interested in sciences, and he’s also a great writer and interested in history and he plays guitar,” she said of oldest son Kai.
Since becoming a mother Jennifer says that happiness is the most important thing to her.
In an industry that places great importance on outward appearance, the Hollywood star insists being content is vital.
“The thing that really matters to me is well-being and happiness. Maybe it comes from knowing people who have tortured themselves trying to meet these strangely narrow and rigorous definitions of what our culture thinks is beautiful,” she said.
