Jane Fonda admits she’s a little “scared” about writing a novel.
The 76-year-old actress and fitness guru has authored books before, but never anything fictional.
Jane reveals she is currently working hard on a tome right now, but the star confesses the task is more daunting than originally anticipated.
“Writing a novel scares me,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. “I’ve never done it, so I thought, ‘Well, I’m going to do it.’”
Jane already has two bestselling memoirs under her belt, as she published My Life So Far in 2005 and Prime Time in 2011.
Her forthcoming novel is called Amanda’s Secrets and the star has decided to keep mum on plot details.
“I’m not going to tell you what [the novel is] about,” she said with a grin on her face.
Jane is busy doing acting work as well, as she has recently signed on to star opposite Lily Tomlin in new Netflix series Grace and Frankie. The comedy, which is shot with a single camera, centers on two women who hate each other, but are forced to be cordial after their husbands fall in love with each other and plan a gay marriage.
The women famously worked together in 1980 comedy 9 to 5 and Jane thinks their onscreen reunion in Grace and Frankie will be dynamic.
“The humor will come out of the pain and out of reality,” she said. “If we should be so lucky as to be thought of for awards, you don’t know quite what category to put it in. I’m so excited.”
