James Gandolfini’s Rolex was apparently stolen within hours of his death.
The Sopranos actor died at the age of 51 while in Italy with his 13-year-old son Michael in June.
Now TMZ claims an expensive timepiece was swiped from the star shortly after his passing in Rome.
“We’ve obtained an insurance form filed by James’ people. According to the form, someone stole a $3,000 Rolex submariner watch and case from James’ hotel room on the day he died,” reports the website.
Apparently the document also states there was no damage to the hotel room where James was found, nor was there a sign of forced entry.
It’s reportedly implied that someone got their hands on the watch during the commotion immediately following his discovery.
There is no description of the submariner, but some contain diamonds and the metal used can be platinum or gold.
During his time in The Sopranos, James’ character Tony Soprano was known for favouring a gold Rolex.
James’ son Michael was the one to discover his father collapsed in the bathroom of their Italian hotel room.
He immediately summoned help from staff at the five-star Boscolo Exedra establishment.
James was taken to the Policlinico Umberto I hospital, where he was declared dead 40 minutes after he arrived.
