Hugh Jackman: It’s dangerous being Wolverine

Hugh Jackman cut his leg while dressed as Wolverine when he tried to cover his modesty from a group of women.

The 45-year-old actor returns as the superhero in upcoming Marvel Comics film X-Men: Days of Future Past. For the role Hugh was fitted with metal blades on his hands, which made simple things such as moving his arms more difficult.

Speaking during an appearance on Britain’s The Graham Norton Show, which airs tomorrow night, the handsome star recalled an accident he had while scantily clad on set.

“There was a very intense first scene and I insisted on a closed set. I ran round the corner and all the female members of the crew were gathered there,” he sighed. “I tried to cover myself and cut my inner thigh – it was just the inner thigh thankfully. The metal claws had to go – you can’t have bits and pieces flying off.”

Also starring in the movie is Michael Fassbender, who reprises his role as a younger version of the villain Magneto. The Irish-German actor, who joined his co-star for the interview along with James McAvoy, was impressed at Hugh’s gruelling workout regime to get into shape for the feature.

“His discipline is incredible – he is up and in the gym at 4.30 in the morning, every morning,” Michael recalled. “When we arrived there was a ‘Jackman’ effect and we all started training to try and keep up.”

To help him with his fitness regime, Hugh has revealed he turned to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson for advice. The actor was grateful to have an expert’s input into the bulking up process.

“The first time I rang him he was in his trailer and there was a knock on the door and someone says, ‘They need you on set, Dwayne.’ He told me to hang on a sec and then said to them, ‘You tell them on set I’m talking to f**king Wolverine, alright! Now go away!’” Hugh laughed to the latest issue of Men’s Health magazine.

“He was the one that really showed me that you need to get an extra workout into the day. The Rock goes heavy in the morning then does some more weights later on, then goes on the elliptical trainer to keep his heart rate up. That way, he’s never going to put on any fat, regardless of how much he’s eating.”
