Terrence Howard has been ordered to stay away from his ex-wife for three years.
The actor’s former spouse Michelle Ghent obtained a temporary restraining order in August. And now it has been made permanent, reports TMZ.
Terrence was initially told to stay 100 yards away from Michelle at all times, but that has been increased to 300 yards until 2016.
Michelle filed for the initial order after Terrence allegedly attacked and beat her during a family trip to Costa Rica.
According to court documents, Terrence physically assaulted Michelle more than once, in full view of family members.
Terrence was not arrested in Costa Rica, but Michelle made a police report when she returned to Los Angeles. Michelle also had photographs taken of her injuries, which included facial bruising and a black eye.
Terrence is not challenging the permanent order and has agreed to pay $14,800 of Michelle’s attorney’s fees.
The 44-year-old Iron Man actor officially divorced from Michelle Ghent in May and the proceedings were contentious throughout.
In divorce court documents obtained by TMZ, Michelle alleged that Terrence began assaulting her just seven days after they tied the knot in January 2010.
She alleges he threatened to throw her off a balcony, punched her in the face, was “smacking her in the face and chipping her tooth with his wedding ring” and “throwing her down to the ground in a parking lot.”
