How you can help the Las Vegas shooting victims

After the deadliest mass shooting in modern US history, you may be looking for a way to help the Las Vegas victims and their families. Here are some ideas.

Donate to the Southern Nevada chapter of the American Red Cross via its website, phone (702-369-3674) or mail (1771 East Flamingo Road, #206B, Las Vegas, Nevada 89119).

Donate to the GoFundMe campaign that Steve Sisolak, Clark County Commission Chair, started on October 2. As of Tuesday, October 10, donors had contributed almost $10.5 million.

The National Compassion Fund started a campaign that would benefit the shooting victims and their families. This organization collects donations from the public and distributes them to victims of a mass crime such as 9/11 and Sandy Hook.

You can also donate to local organizations in Las Vegas that provide counseling to those that need it. Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada, for example, provides mental and physical health care to people who don’t have access to it.

If you want to donate blood, Hoxworth Blood Center is always taking donations, though they won’t directly impact Las Vegas.

Facebook set up a page that is collecting Las Vegas stories, support, fundraisers and other ways to help. Check it out here.

AT&T customers can text “VEGAS” to 50555 to donate $10 to University Medical Center Foundation (UMICF) – Las Vegas’ only Level 1 Trauma Center.
