Chris Hemsworth and his wife “turn away” during his on-screen kissing scenes.
The Australian actor is married to Spanish model-and-actress Elsa Pataky.
In his latest film Thor: The Dark World Chris’ titular character locks lips several times with his love interest Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman.
While the 30-year-old star and his spouse are both professionals in the business, Chris admits they cringe when seeing the more intimate moments he shares with fellow actresses.
“In all honestly it’s like, you know she’s an actress so understands that, you know, it is what it is. And she understands that it’s actually pretty far from romantic, the scenes,” he explained to Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O.
“There’s a hundred people standing around with lights and cameras. But… it’s also very unnatural, you know? To watch your partner kiss someone else. So I think for both of us you might turn away from the screen when that moment’s happening. But she’s fine.”
The blonde heartthrob loved working with his co-stars, especially Sir Anthony Hopkins. While on set with the veteran actor Chris was drawn in when listening to Anthony’s fascinating tales.
“He would laugh if you called him Sir, he is just such a great guy and you know, ‘It’s Tony, it’s Tony.’ It’s not Mr Hopkins or anything and he’s just fantastic,” Chris gushed.
“Especially this time round. There was almost less pressure, we all had a chemistry and we knew one another and he comes on set and tells stories. The whole set and the crew just stops and listens. He’s fantastic.”
When he isn’t in front of the camera Chris spends time with Elsa and their daughter India. He couldn’t contain his excitement when quizzed about being a parent and spoke about watching his little girl grow up.
“Awesome – so much fun,” he exclaimed when asked how fatherhood is going. “She’s this mixture of English and Spanish and it’s an interesting hybrid of things. Mama, papa – various words. And her own little language is just so much fun… it’s just the best thing. They’re away at the moment, my wife’s actually shooting something in Hawaii.”
