Tom Hanks can’t imagine life without his wife.
The actor is married to Rita Wilson and together they have sons Chester and Truman.
He’s eternally grateful to his spouse, who he wed in 1988.
“I really wouldn’t like to know what my life would look like without my wife!” he exclaimed to German magazine MEINS.
The 57-year-old was married once before to Samantha Lewes, but their relationship ended in 1987.
He also has children Colin and Elizabeth with his ex-wife and believes being family oriented has kept him grounded.
“I worked my way up slowly, which means there was never any danger I’d go off the rails,” he explained.
“No fights, no nightclub adventures; for 25 years, I’ve just led a normal married life with four kids.”
Tom is one of the biggest names in the industry, having starred in films such as Forrest Gump and the recent Captain Phillips.
His career amazes him, but it’s not something that fell into his lap.
“It always seemed like a miracle to me when I had a job. I would often wait months for an offer – and had two kids, a mortgage to pay and a car in desperate need of fixing. I had many sleepless nights,” he remembered.
“But I really wanted success! I was always prepared to go wherever I was needed for a role. I always fought for it; I had to stay strong. My whole career has been a battle.”
