Hanks: I had no game plan

Tom Hanks

Tom Hanks had “no dreams” growing up.

The actor is one of the biggest names in Hollywood, having starred in films such as Forrest Gump and Cast Away.

While many stars claim they always had the goal in their sights, Tom had a different way of working.

“I had no dreams at all growing up,” Tom shrugged to British magazine OK!

“I’m serious. I just wanted to make a little bit of money to get by. A little bit more than nothing! As far as I was concerned, acting was just a job you volunteered to do in your free time. If you were good enough, a director might sometimes ask you back to play something else. But as for money, I used to think that if I was lucky, I might make maybe $50 a week.”

Tom’s next venture is Saving Mr. Banks, in which he plays Walt Disney.

He’s also the star of Captain Phillips, which has received rave reviews all over the world.

He might be a household name, but it was never a thought that occurred to him when he was younger.

“The concept of having huge dreams when you’re young and always having one eye on the prize – that’s something I’ve honestly never understood,” he admitted.

“I did not have a single dream growing up. I didn’t even have a five-year plan!”
