Gwyneth Paltrow has caused her website to crash by selling her old clothes on it.
The 41-year-old has lifestyle site GOOP, which she famously used to announce her “conscious uncoupling” from her now estranged husband Chris Martin in March.
Today the star announced a “Super-Classy Yard Sale” on it, with all proceeds going to charity. Gwyneth donated some of her old clothes to the cause as did many of her friends, with demand so high the site went offline for a short while.
“Last year, we did a big story on closet organization, and in the process, sold a handful of pieces on behalf of three charities,” she explained. “It was such a success that we decided to do it again, and enlisted some friends-of-Goop, who have particularly outstanding personal style, to help this year.”
Among those to offer up their worn items was Gwyneth’s close friend Kate Hudson, who donated a Balenciaga gown. Several dresses and tops which belonged to Miranda Kerr were also up for grabs, along with some of Nicole Richie’s Christian Louboutin shoes. Pop queen Beyoncé Knowles also got in on the action, donating some footwear from her The Mrs Carter Show world tour.
The money raised will go to DonorsChoose, a charity which helps teaches get help for any of their students who are in need.
Gwyneth hinted that she was planning a sale on her Twitter account yesterday, where she posed a picture of herself in some leather boots. “Spring cleaning @goop #goopgiving (sic),” she captioned it.
