Griffith’s dinner date

Melanie Griffith seems to be “enjoying the single life” in the wake of her spit from Antonio Banderas, according to a new report.

The 56-year-old star and her husband of 18 years announced plans to dissolve their marriage on June 6.

But the New York Daily News reports Melanie was smiling and happy while dining in Rome with friend Matt Dillon Friday evening.

The outlet notes it’s unclear if their dinner was a romantic one, although they apparently parted at the restaurant with a hug.

As the Daily News reports, both stars attended the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily earlier in the week.

Melanie revealed during a festival event on Monday that she had completely covered up a heart tattoo once bearing Antonio’s name on her upper arm, using make-up to drive home the message their marriage is over.

The Working Girl star cited irreconcilable differences as reason for her split from the actor in divorce filings earlier this month.

Speculation has since mounted as to what drove them apart, with a source telling British magazine Closer Melanie’s distrust of her husband’s relationships with other women led to the split.

“Mel had trust issues and was always suspicious of Antonio’s friendships with other women,” the insider said.

“Mel’s told pals Antonio was constantly surrounded by beautiful co-stars. In the end, it proved too much to handle, but they’re still on good terms for [daughter] Stella’s sake.”

The Working Girl actress met 53-year-old Antonio while filming their 1995 comedy movie Too Much. The former couple share 17-year-old daughter, Stella.

Melanie is reportedly seeking both spousal and child support.
