Melanie Griffith has reportedly filed for divorce from husband Antonio Banderas.
TMZ is reporting that the Working Girl actress has cited irreconcilable differences in legal papers as the reason to end her 18-year marriage to the Mask of Zorro actor. While the documents do not show the date of separation, Melanie is reportedly requesting child and spousal support.
“[Melanie is asking for] sole physical and joint legal custody, although it’s pretty much moot -Stella, their only child together, turns 18 in September,” the outlet stated.
This will be the 56-year-old’s fourth divorce, having been married twice to actor Don Johnson and also to fellow thespian Steven Bauer. Meanwhile Antonio has been divorced once before. Their current split is said to be amicable. However when it comes to dividing their property it gets a more complex.
“They have lots of real estate, both in the U.S. and Spain,” a source close to the couple told TMZ.
Rumors have circulated on and off since last year that the couple’s marriage was in trouble, but both stars had denied there were any issues.
The couple met on the set of 1995 film Two Much and their relationship led the end of his marriage to Ana Leza. One month after his divorce was finalized, the 53-year-old married Melanie in a low key ceremony in London, England.
