Selena Gomez was presented with the Teen Choice Awards’ highest honor Sunday night.
The 22-year-old pop star took home the Ultimate Choice Award at the annual ceremony, held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
Jennifer Lopez presented the prize.
Previous recipients include Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Reese Witherspoon, Ashton Kutcher, Mike Myers, Venus and Serena Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar.
Selena was also nominated for Choice Female Hottie, Choice Smile and Choice Instagrammer.
The Come & Get It hitmaker has become a fan-favorite among teens not only for her pop hits, but also for fighting back against bullies.
Last month, the star made headlines after addressing a commenter who wrote she should “burn in hell with cancer” on Instagram.
“The comment you left about cancer was absurd. How distasteful of a young woman,” Selena responded. “I have gone through that battle with fans and family members. You can dislike someone but to wish something that could happen to you or your family is uncalled for sweetheart.
“You won’t be winning ‘anyone’s’ heart that way,” she continued. “Trust me. Educate yourself a tad more. God bless love. Be an amazing woman. You’re beautiful.”
The star took a screenshot of her response and reposted the message. Shortly after, she was flooded with support from fans.
In March, while speaking at the We Day California youth conference, Selena also urged her young fans to “have each others’ backs”.
“It does more than knock the wind out of you,” MTV News reports she said.
“It crushes you when people try to tell you you’re not good enough. Please just be kind to each other and love and inspire people… Let’s change the game. The most important thing is that we learn and we continue to learn from each other.”
