George Clooney reportedly showed “no signs of nerves” when he met his fiancée’s mother.
The 53-year-old actor is currently engaged to wed 36-year-old lawyer Amal Alamuddin and it is expected they will tie the knot in September.
Over the weekend, George flew Amal’s mother Baria, 66, to Lake Como, Italy, where he has a home. It is rumored that she has been helping George and Amal plan their wedding.
“They say the only thing more intimidating than a huge Hollywood film star is a mother-in-law, yet George showed no signs of nerves,” a source told the British newspaper The Mirror. “Baria has the ability to put anyone at ease and she was equally at ease around George.”
Baria is the editor of Lebanese newspaper Al-Hayat and regularly appears on television. “Back in Lebanon she is a star in her own right,” the source explained. “They all get along famously together.”
Amal’s mother is thought to have stayed with the couple overnight, before leaving the next day.
Although the Monuments Men star is thought to be best friends with Brad Pitt, apparently he has chosen Matt Damon to be his best man. However, Brad, Angelina Jolie and Brad’s ex-wife Jennifer Aniston will reportedly all be invited to the wedding.
The ceremony is thought to be taking place at George’s home in Lake Como, and apparently the couple is hoping their offspring will already be on its way by then.
“[They are trying] and don’t care whether she’s a pregnant bride,” an insider told the American edition of OK! Magazine recently.
“George never wanted to have kids before, but he knew right away that Amal would be the perfect mother.”
