Generous godmother Gaga

Lady Gaga thinks Sir Elton John’s children are the “most beautiful kids”.

The American singer is godmother to the legendary musician’s sons Zachary and Elijah, who he and his partner David Furnish had through a surrogate mother.

When visiting the tots Gaga – real name Stefani Germanotta – looks at their family in admiration and has nothing but praise for their set up.

“I bring them presents all the time. I spoil the hell out of them,” she gushed to British talk show host Graham Norton in an episode of his program airing this Friday. “They are the most beautiful kids and I’ve never seen such a loving family. They are absolutely the symbol of the future modern family.”

Gaga also spoke out about the reasons behind her choosing to wear such extravagant outfits. The 27-year-old musician recalled a dark period in her life and how pouring her energy into clothing helped get her to a better place.

“It’s how I deal with my insanity. From when I was young I had voices in my head and for the longest time I was drinking and doing a lot of drugs and it was the clothing and the artistry that saved me,” she recalled. “I get sheer joy out of creativity, it’s like a psychedelic experience for me.”

While she has a good relationship with her parents now, Gaga admits it wasn’t always easy. It was only recently her mother Cynthia got angry over her nose piercing, which she still finds amusing.

“I was very respectful of my parents but I was like a grenade that pulls out its own pin. I just wanted to get hell out of there. I wanted to go out and play music and when I couldn’t make music I went nuts and it made my parents nuts,” she explained. “[My mom got most upset over my nose piercing.] Isn’t that ridiculous, of all the things I did. I was like, ‘Mom, really? I’m naked in every magazine!’”

This year has been hectic for the eccentric star. In February she underwent surgery on her hip, which forced her to cancel US dates on her Born This Way Ball tour and postpone her upcoming album ARTPOP.

“I broke my hip and who dances on a broken hip for three months and doesn’t know? The thing is when you are on a tour for that long everything hurts and it’s not a possibility to me to cancel,” she sighed. “I can’t say no and I can’t stop. I felt dead not performing.”
