Sarah Michelle Gellar was “inappropriate” to get her latest acting part.
The former Buffy the Vampire Slayer star wanted her potential co-star Robin Williams to know she adored his work when being considered for TV show The Crazy Ones.
So she sent a message to the funnyman via mutual pals.
“His best friend’s wife has been one of my closest friends for years now,” she told Entertainment Weekly. “So when I read the script I called her and her husband and said, ‘I know this is inappropriate and normally I would never do this, but if you speak to Robin, tell him I am one of his biggest fans and I would be honored to even read for him.’ ”
Despite the show’s leading lady being very aware of his talent, Robin admits he was oblivious to her before they began working together.
However he would like to reflect on her past project Buffy now they are colleagues.
“To be honest I’ve never seen one episode,” he confessed. “Send me one.”
Now Robin is working on The Crazy Ones, he is enjoying the job more than his previous small screen efforts including Mork & Mindy.
He mainly likes not having the pressure of getting a scene right in front of strangers.
“With Mork & Mindy we had crazy audiences, especially when Jonathan Winters was on,” he revealed. “The idea of having a live audience puts on a little more pressure.
“With this you can find different types of comedy – kick a*s – but at the same time something slightly more subtle, more laid-back.”
