Michael Fassbender recalls being sucked into a “funk tunnel” while filming Frank.
The dramedy, which also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal and Domhnall Gleeson, centers on a wannabe musician with little skill who becomes part of an eccentric pop band.
Michael and his colleagues danced frequently while listening to music on set, so much so that they often found themselves lost in what appeared to be another musical dimension.
“We had a lot of fun whenever we were playing the music,” he told Celebuzz. “We always kind of got reprimanded for going into what we called the ‘funk tunnel,’ where we sort of went on Michael McDonald [Steely Dan] tangents. So that was fun.”
The 37-year-old actor donned a large papier-maché head mask while depicting Frank.
And unfortunately his costume prevented him from playing jokes on castmates.
“I couldn’t really see anyone so it would’ve been an unfair advantage to everyone else,” Michael smiled.
The tunes keep on coming with the Frank cast, as the ensemble recently decided to gather together for a karaoke night.
Michael reveals he chose to sing tunes other than his go-to song Summer Wind while karaokeing.
“[Summer Wind is sung] just at open-air events,” he laughed.
Co-star Domhnall shared his experience of the evening, noting the cast picked out some interesting tunes.
“We did karaoke last night and I did the Irish Rover I think,” he shared. “They didn’t have any other folk songs, I wanted more folk songs.”
Frank is released to US theaters on August 15.
