Emma Stone has warned people won’t always “feel a spark” when they meet someone.
The 25-year-old actress is in a long-term relationship with Andrew Garfield and they star alongside each other in the Spider-Man franchise. They are famously secretive about their relationship, although Emma is happy to talk more generally about love.
“I think that when you meet someone for the first time you can feel a spark but not think they’re so great as a person,” she told the American edition of OK! magazine. “Then, as you get to know them, you can either be proven right or wrong. It’s a good ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ story.”
Emma’s latest movie is Woody Allen’s Magic in the Moonlight and she’s proud of the project. She feels lucky to have forged a film career and has considered taking to the stage, but doesn’t know if it would be possible.
“I would absolutely love to, but I have vocal nodules, I lose my voice all the time, so it could be hard to be projecting onstage every night,” she explained.
“I actually talked to Justin Timberlake about that when we were doing [2011 movie] Friends with Benefits. He had that surgery and had to be on vocal rest for a while. He couldn’t sing for a year!”
Having been in the industry for several years now, Emma is getting used to leading her life in public. She’s not sure it’s something she’ll ever be totally comfortable with, especially as she finds the idea of people looking up to her strange. It is something she takes on board though.
“I don’t in any way, shape or form think that I am any type of role model, but I do believe that when you’re put into a public place you have to figure out what you’re purpose is or what you can do with something like that,” she said.
