Elizabeth Banks thinks it’s her duty to promote “sisterhood”.
The 40-year-old Love & Mercy actress is currently working on Pitch Perfect 2, her feature length directorial debut.
The musical comedy stars Rebel Wilson and Anna Kendrick, and Elizabeth is elated to put the spotlight on such talented ladies.
“I really wanted to make a comedy, and I’m thrilled it’s about a group of women,” she told InStyle magazine.
“The core of the story is about sisterhood and friendship, and I don’t think there are enough movies like that out there — and certainly not enough great roles for women, but with Pitch Perfect, I have the opportunity to play with some really funny ladies.”
Elizabeth has two sons with husband Max Handelman – Felix, three, and Magnus Mitchell, 16 months.
She has previously shared her thoughts on how to effectively balance raising children with career obligations.
“They’re my first priority every morning when I wake up, but I also think it’s important to provide a role model who loves her work and is a leader in her life,” Elizabeth told People magazine. “You just need to build a village. I have a great husband and I have great help.”
The star loves hanging out with her little sons, as they are an endless source of joy for her.
“They make me laugh constantly. Everything they do is funny, literally. They’re two little clowns. All they do is make me laugh!” Elizabeth gushed to the publication.
