Zac Efron has revealed he’s the happiest he’s ever been following his secret stint in rehab last year.
The 26-year-old actor was appearing on the Today Show this morning to promote his new film That Awkward Moment.
But Zac may have been caught off guard when anchor Savannah Guthrie asked him about reports that he had gone to rehab and if he had anything he would like to share.
“I’m in the best place that I’ve ever been in,” the 17 Again star replied. “I’ve never been this happy before.”
Zac reportedly did two stints in rehab in spring 2013 after he found himself battling an alleged cocaine addiction, TMZ reported in September.
At the time neither Zac nor his spokespeople had made any comment about the rumors, but now Zac seems willing to divulge a little bit more about his situation.
“I’m extraordinarily grateful for these guys and to be here promoting this movie. Things are good. Thank you for asking,” he added to Savannah.
Zac was appearing on the show alongside his co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller.
As well as appearing in the movie, Zac also has an executive producer credit.
The former Disney star seemed genuinely thrilled to be discussing the movie and couldn’t help but sing his co-stars praises.
“These guys are the best young actors I’ve ever worked with. I’m so excited,” he exclaimed.
“There’s never really been a movie like this. And all of us are just stoked to get it out there. We’re so happy to be in New York. This is where we made the film.”
