Britain’s Duchess of Cambridge is reportedly looking towards Princess Diana as she prepares for her tour of Australia and New Zealand.
Catherine and her husband Prince William will start their trip next month, taking baby George with them.
This will mark their first royal trip as a family, and Catherine is taking into consideration how the late Diana, William’s mother, handled such situations.
“Kate looks on Diana as the archetype of who she’d like to become. She has nothing but adoration for the way Diana overcame social boundaries to be her own women. And of course, she personified all that is good about William, who Kate clearly adores,” a palace insider revealed to Britain’s Woman magazine.
Although the beautiful brunette looks up to William’s mom, she’s very aware of the tour of Australia and New Zealand undertaken by Prince Charles and Diana in 1983, say those close to her.
Many believe this marked the beginning of the problems between the royal couple.
To help her prepare for her own trip, Catherine is said to be reading up on Australian history as well as reading the biographies of all the dignitaries she’ll be meeting.
“Kate is only too aware of how momentous this tour is and has been planning it down to the tiniest detail for months on end,” added the source.
“She’s also been having many sleepless nights fretting about the intense scrutiny she’ll be under. As a result she’s on a strict diet and exercise regime to ensure she will look her best.”
