Robert Downey Jr. tops Forbes’ list of highest paid actors.
The Iron Man star raked in an estimated $75 million in the last year, hoisting him to the top of the magazine’s annual list for the second year running.
Forbes calculated Robert’s earnings between June 2013 and June 2014, during which time his only release was John Favreau comedy Chef.
However, editors note the actor’s role as as Tony Stark in Iron Man 3 as well as Avengers: Age of Ultron is paying off on the backend.
“Downey reigns as the highest paid man in Hollywood because at this point, it would be incredibly difficult for Marvel to continue making Iron Man and Avengers films without him,” reporter Dorothy Pomerantz writes, noting Downey’s Marvel movies have raked in about $4 billion at global box offices and millions more in video releases and merchandise.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came in at two with an estimated $52 million during the same period.
Editors noted his roles in The Fast & Furious, HBO comedy Ballers, as well as producing jobs.
Following at three is Bradley Cooper with $46 million. The actor’s roles in Oscar-winning drama American Hustle, as well as The Hangover franchise and his part as Rocket Raccoon in Marvel’s forthcoming action flick Guardians of the Galaxy were noted as big earners for the star.
Leonardo DiCaprio meanwhile came in at four with $39 million, thanks largely to his roles in The Great Gatsby and The Wolf of Wall Street.
Thor star Chris Hemsworth ranks fifth with $37 million.
