Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones allegedly express their feelings in daily journals.
The Hollywood power couple have been married for more than 13 years, and have children Dylan and Carys together.
They have had a tough time recently, with their marriage problems being well documented in the press.
But friends close to the stars say they are now getting back on to the right track for happiness, and showing how they feel is helping them to achieve this.
“They’ve been working on different ways to express feelings – including daily journals. They only show them to each other if things get bad – it’s a way of giving them an outlet,” a source revealed to British Grazia magazine.
“They’re going to take one month apart a year – they’ve realized how important it is to take a breather and allow themselves to take stock.”
Rumors surfaced last summer that the pair had split.
At the time a statement was released stating that they were taking some time apart to evaluate work and their marriage.
Michael, 69, has always been open about his hope that the relationship would work, and after the latest rough patch it seems this is the case. There’s even talk about the couple renewing their wedding vows.
“Michael and Catherine have been through a lot over the last few months. They would love to renew their wedding vows and have thought about doing it on their joint birthday – September 25,” the insider added.
