DiCaprio’s model birthday

Leonardo DiCaprio celebrated his birthday with “wall-to-wall models” over the weekend.

The actor turned 39 yesterday and threw a lavish bash to celebrate on Sunday night. The party was held at Tao Downtown in New York City, with famed ladies’ man Leonardo seemingly in the mood to have fun.

“The party was wild – wall-to-wall models. There were probably 20 girls to every guy. Leo started the night with a dinner in a private room and then joined the party around midnight,” an insider told New York Post.

Kanye West was enlisted to perform at the event, taking home a $100,000 pay cheque. His set went down a storm with the crowd, among them his fiancée Kim Kardashian.

“2 Chainz performed, then Kanye surprised Leo and performed a full show of about ten songs with DJ Jus Ske including Clique, Good Life, Power and All of the Lights. Kim Kardashian was singing along,” a source explained.

“Leo and girlfriend Toni Garrn were front-row for the entire performance, dancing and kissing.”

As well as having fun, the actor used the party for a good cause. Donations were made to his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which raises money to care for the natural world.

A host of businessman splashed out vast sums on alcohol, with prices inflated to aid the actor’s charitable organisation. Aviation, oil and gas tycoon Kola Aluko reportedly lavished over $1 million within a few hours on champagne, with Leonardo’s friend on hand to let all the guests know whenever a big sum had been spent.

“Danny A, who hosted, would get on the microphone and announce who placed the champagne order and for how much… then a train of 100 bottles would come out with sparklers and girls dressed in burlesque [outfits],” the insider said.

Joey McFarland, who produced Leonardo’s movie The Wolf of Wall Street, was also happy to spend big bucks. According to New York Post, money made from donations and alcohol purchases raked in $3 million for the charity.

Among the other guests were Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood, Tobey Maguire, Busta Rhymes, Benicio Del Toro and Q-Tip.
