Bradley Cooper feels like he has won the “life lottery”.
The 38-year-old Hollywood heartthrob is enjoying an amazing time in his career. After receiving best actor nods for his role in Silver Linings Playbook during the last awards season, he is now garnering fresh critical acclaim with new movie American Hustle. When asked if he felt like he had won the “acting lottery” after appearing in a series of hit films, Bradley admitted he can’t believe his luck.
“I kind of feel like I won the life lottery, that I get to do what I do,” he told Collider. “Absolutely, are you kidding? To be with this cast in this movie?”
Bradley is also enjoying success in his private life and has been dating British model Suki Waterhouse since early this year. It has been claimed the couple are so in love that they have already discussed starting a family.
In American Hustle, Bradley plays wild FBI agent Richie DiMaso. The movie also stars Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and is directed by David O’Russell.
Bradley previously worked with Jennifer and David on Silver Linings Playbook, and while some stars may find David’s hands-on approach overwhelming – Bradley welcomed it.
“I love that he is there, every time I do a movie I literally ask the director to be as close to me as possible,” he explained. “I can’t stand it when they are way back there, it just seems disconnected to me.”
For the role Bradley notably sports a tight head of curls. Much has been made of his hair transformation, and the star insists he was closely involved with his character’s appearance.
“The perm was my idea, then David took it as he does and makes it an amazing aspect of the character,” he explained. “We were talking about making Richie DiMaso look different than I do, so we thought why don’t we perm his hair? He perms or curls his own hair every day because he wants to look like these black baseball players like Dock Ellis and he thinks that’s cool. Then it all just sort of happened.”
