George Clooney reportedly wants Lana Del Rey to perform at his wedding.
The Hollywood star surprised many when he got engaged to 36-year-old lawyer Amal Alamuddin earlier this year, as he’d previously been viewed as an eternal bachelor. The pair are rumored to be tying the knot in Italy in September, with claims George wants to surprise his fiancée by booking her favorite artist.
“Amal is a massive fan of Lana’s, which has made George determined to make this happen,” an insider told British newspaper Daily Star
“He contacted Lana’s people to see if she’ll perform at their wedding in Italy.”
If the plan goes ahead it won’t be the first time the singer has taken to the stage at A-list nuptials – in May she famously performed to mark Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s wedding. She insisted she didn’t charge the rapper and his reality TV star partner anything for the pleasure because she is good friends with Kanye. George can’t claim the same, but has apparently already said that money is no object when it comes to creating Amal’s big day.
“Lana hasn’t told the couple yet whether or not she’ll be able to perform. But she’s wondering whether it might look tacky to sing at two of the most high-profile celebrity weddings of the year,” the insider said.
It’s been claimed that George is giving Amal free reign as far as the wedding plans are going, with the American edition of OK! magazine suggesting the 53-year-old star has told her she can make all the final decisions so she gets everything she’s always dreamed of.
The couple have been spotted looking at venues, although the star is said to be gunning for the vows to be exchanged at his villa at Lake Como because he thinks security would be easier to control there.
The American publication claims the color scheme will be cream and gold, with stars such as Eva Longoria, Bono, Oprah Winfrey, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski said to be attending.
“Right now, they have 500 people, but George is trying to get it down to 200,” an insider told OK! “They are having a hard time figuring out who to cut. They both have large families.”
