George Clooney will be a married man by September according to reports.
The famous bachelor proposed to British girlfriend Amal Alamuddin last month after meeting in September last year. Now a friend close to The Monuments Men actor has revealed that the wedding is set to take place to mark the anniversary of when they first met.
“If all goes as they are planning, Amal and George will be husband and wife within less than five months,” the family friend revealed to the MailOnline.
Fans around the world are still shocked that George, who turned 53 today, has made such a U-turn on his longstanding ban on marriage by getting engaged to the Beirut-born lawyer. According to the source, the 36-year-old holds the traditions of her birth country close to her heart, and this is something George has had to comply with for her to even go out with him.
“Tradition is extremely important to her Lebanese family, so Amal contacted her parents to discuss it before she would agree to go out with him,” the source continued.
Before proposing, the Gravity star reportedly flew with Amal to Dubai to meet her siblings and father Ramzi. He also met with her London-based editor mother Baria on a number of occasions before placing the 7-carat emerald-cut diamond ring on her finger.
“[The Dubai trip] was kind of George’s indirect way of showing her father he was serious about her before asking for her hand in marriage,” the insider continued. “Amal’s dad is definitely more impressed with George’s political and humanitarian involvement than he is with his fame and wealth. Ramzi prefers his daughter is associated with a guy with brains and no money over a guy with no brains and lots of money.”
