James Franco is the “most handsome man” Chris O’Dowd has ever met.
The two actors are appearing in Of Mice and Men on Broadway, with the opening night set for April. As of yet they haven’t had much to do with each other, but James certainly made a big impression on Chris when they were first introduced.
“[We've met] only once, when we shot the poster. And it’s not fair, because in that photo he looks like James Dean and I look like I barely know they’re taking a picture,” he laughed to British magazine Heat. “I’m, like, a seven out of ten on a really good day. He’s an 11 when he wakes up in the morning. It’s not fair. He’s the most handsome man I’ve ever met.”
Chris was then teased about having to stare at James on stage every night.
“Yeah, I presume we’ll make love – is that what you’re implying. But yes, we start rehearsals soon and I can’t wait. I’m really looking forward to it,” he said.
Chris stars in a UK TV show in which he plays the imaginary friend of a young boy. Although he didn’t talk to a pretend person when he was little, he did have one similarly unusual habit.
“I didn’t. I had a really poor imagination. I had a brick called Rick, which I used to talk to. I would fill him in on the events of the day. I still talk to myself a lot,” he explained.
The actor’s next project is Cuban Fury, a film about a dancer who tries to make a comeback years after his career finished. Chris didn’t expect the shoot to be as arduous as it was.
“I thought I would have an aptitude for salsa dancing, but every day was a reminder of how wrong I was. I never thought I would end up as one of those people who goes to Pineapple Dance Studios [London dance school] every day, but I did,” he giggled.
