Chelsea Handler: I won’t change for a man

Chelsea Handler

Chelsea Handler “really regrets” dating some of her ex-boyfriends.

The comedian is currently single following her split from property magnate André Balazs last year. She’s also enjoyed a romance with 50 Cent in the past and while she wouldn’t comment on individual relationships, the star admits some of her liaisons have been ill thought out.

“I’m sure it can be but I’m not going to alter my personality so that men like me more,” she told Stylist magazine, when asked if she can be intimidating to men. “I’ve had men who have felt they can handle me but they’ve turned out to be terrible. There are one or two that I really regret ever dating. The very thing they are attracted to is the very thing they are scared of.”

Chelsea is famously open about her private life and has written a book about her conquests in the past. She also usually comments on her relationships on her talk show Chelsea Lately and opened up further about the things she holds dear when it comes to romance.

“No, I’m not keen on children. And I’m not against marriage but it’s not something on my ‘must’ list,” she said. “I’m sure I’ll end up getting married one time. I’ve been close but luckily the sky opened up, I saw what was really in front of me and decided against it. It would have been the biggest mistake of my life.”

The comedian has confirmed she is quitting her show later this year, which she’s helmed since 2007. She has no regrets about doing the E! series but admits she probably stuck with it too long because she felt a “duty” to women as the only female late night talk show host in the US. Now she’s looking forward to pursuing some of her other dreams.

“I’m ready to move on. I want to broaden my horizons,” she said. “The things that actually interest me are not the things I get to talk about on my show. I’m very interested in politics, human interest, sports… I wasn’t excited by my show anymore.”
