Stars have flocked to Twitter to honor the memory of Mickey Rooney.
The legendary screen actor passed away yesterday at the age of 93, having spent nearly eight decades in front of the camera.
Famous faces from the world of film, TV and music have all been saddened by the news, and took time out of their busy schedules to share their thoughts.
“Mickey Rooney got all the best babes despite being short as hell. #RIP beautiful man (sic),” Lena Dunham posted, in reference to Mickey’s short stature.
Standing at only 5ft. 3in. tall, his height didn’t stand in the way of a fruitful love life, which saw him marry eight times, including his 1942 union with screen beauty Ava Gardner.
“very sad.. RIP Mickey Rooney. Aaron and I used to pretend to be Mickey & Judy all the time when we were younger. hollywood royalty. we (heart) U. (sic),” echoed pop star Ariana Grande.
“My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Mickey Rooney. One of the greats! (sic)” shared iconic Star Trek actor William Shatner.
“so sad to hear we’ve lost a legend like Mickey Rooney. Rest In Peace. (sic),” Chloë Grace Moretz posted.
Mickey was surrounded by family at his North Hollywood home at the time of his death, after battling with ill health for some time.
He had 340 acting credits to his name, and was nominated for four Oscars throughout his career.
