Bynes ‘psychiatric hold extended’

Amanda Bynes has apparently been placed on an extended psychiatric hold.

The troubled actress has been making headlines with her erratic behaviour recently and was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold at a Los Angeles hospital after setting fire to a residential driveway last month.

Since then, she has ineffectively appealed for freedom and TMZ are now reporting her treatment has been prolonged by a further 30 days.

Her mom was in court today applying for temporary conservatorship of her daughter, but Amanda was stopped from testifying.

The website writes it’s her doctors rather than her parents who were responsible for making this happen.

“Doctors at the psychiatric hospital where Amanda has been held for the last two weeks determined she was not well enough to leave the hospital to attend today’s hearing – where her parents are trying to win a temporary conservatorship,” TMZ writes.

Doctors reportedly went to a judge, who then went to the hospital to conduct an emergency hearing and granted the request.

Apparently the law states this order can only be made if the patient is “gravely disabled as a result of a mental disorder”.

Amanda’s parents will reportedly continue to fight for temporary conservatorship, which would give them control over the star’s finances.
