Bullock’s Pacino joke

Sandra Bullock

Sandra Bullock’s Mexican accent sounds like “Al Pacino from Scarface”.

The American actress stars alongside George Clooney in director Alfonso Cuarón’s sci-fi movie Gravity. They play a medical engineer and astronaut who are stranded in outer space following a serious accident.

When shooting the dramatic scenes the pair had little to lift their spirits, so took to mocking Alfonso’s voice.

“I wish, I wish [there was mucking around]. We made fun of Alfonso – that’s what we did. We made fun of his accent,” she laughed to website shortlist.com.

“Alfonso’s from Mexico, for some reason George and I sounded like Al Pacino from Scarface. Everything was [adopts accent], ‘Say hello, say hello to Alfonso.’ That’s about the only thing we could do while we were hanging in a rigid pain. It’s the only way there was stress relief and Alfonso took it like a man. He was very good about it.”

Sandra’s role has already generated Oscar buzz, but she doesn’t entertain it. The 49-year-old star puts her career achievements down to being in the right place at the right time.

“I’ve not been consistent, I’ve been lucky. Pure luck, it’s luck and timing and I mean, if you have the luxury of saying ‘no’ that doesn’t feel 100 per cent right, say it!” she advised.

“When I’ve said no a lot of times people have talked me into something. Sometimes it’s been horrible and I’ve regretted it, and sometimes it’s been an amazing experience. It’s a c**p shoot. Nothing lasts – it’s just pure luck. And I’m telling you next year I’ll embarrass myself and no one will want to interview me and I’ll be like, ‘OK, I’m back in the place I feel most comfortable.’ I’m just gonna enjoy right now and the moment of being in something that I’m incredibly proud of.”
