Britney Spears is reportedly annoyed that her Las Vegas residency bosses think she can make do with “two balloons and a feather boa”.
The American singer has confirmed she is staging a two-year residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Sin City, which kicks off on December 27.
She will perform in the same area Holly Madison and Coco Austin did for burlesque production Peepshow. However, Britney apparently feels the stage is too small and won’t allow her to show what she can really do.
“When Céline Dion came to Vegas, they built her the Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and that was a production just for her,” an insider told New York Daily News. “When Britney was announced, they barely touched the stage. She’ll be on the same stage as Holly was with a pole. Producers think Britney can make do with two balloons and a feather boa.”
Top of the 31-year-old star’s list of worries is where the pyrotechnics for her residency will be. She is determined to make the shows as awe-inspiring as possible and is said to be concerned a small stage will lack wow factor.
“There is a new set, but they have not gone all out,” the source claimed.
Britney is expected to play 48 concerts a year and is set to earn $15 million from the residency.
Her plans have caused intense speculation over the last few weeks, following claims she is considering lip-syncing. She also said she was planning to bring her eldest son Sean Preston on stage, but later claimed she is joking.
The singer’s representative has insisted she is happy with the stage plans.
“It is actually bigger than previous stages she has performed on. The venue will be groundbreaking,” the spokesperson said.
