Brad Pitt was attacked by a fan at last night’s Maleficent premiere.
The actor was at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood last night to support his fiancée Angelina Jolie and her latest movie.
While Brad walked the red carpet, a man in the fan area jumped over the barricades and rushed at the 50-year-old star. It’s thought the perpetrator, named as Ukrainian serial prankster Vitalii Sediuk, managed to make contact with Brad’s face before being stopped by security.
Vitalii was pounced on by several bodyguards, who wrestled him to the ground and handcuffed him.
TMZ claim LAPD now have him in custody, with law enforcement sources telling the website he will be booked for misdemeanor charges.
It’s thought Angelina was in a different area at the time of the incident, greeting fans who’d turned out for the occasion.
It’s not entirely clear what Vitalii’s intentions were, with some claiming he struck Brad in the face, while others say he tried to hug the Fight Club actor.
A source told Us Weekly that the star seemed “tense” after the unexpected attack.
It’s not the first time Vitalii has pulled pranks like this at high-profile events.
In 2012 he angered Will Smith when he tried to kiss him on the lips at the Men in Black 3 premiere. The star responded by slapping Vitalii.
He’s also surprised A-listers such as Bradley Cooper and Leonardo DiCaprio by running at them on the red carpet and kneeling down by their crotch.
