Brad Pitt is pleased he’s no longer viewed as a “commodity”.
The actor is considered one of the hottest stars in the industry and has played handsome, suave characters in films such as Fight Club and Ocean’s Eleven.
He celebrated his 50th birthday in December, but rather than worry about ageing, he’s pleased that growing older could bring him more opportunities.
“I feel that my life has reached a point where I can look back and see that I’ve accomplished a lot of my goals as an actor and I’m also not as much of a commodity anymore,” he mused to the British edition of OK! magazine.
“So I feel freer to be able to do pretty much anything I want as a producer and on occasion as an actor. I’m also able to spend as much time as I would like with my family, which is really my main concern. I think when you get older, you just naturally think much less about yourself and you see everything in terms of what you can do to make your family happy. At least until they become wicked teenagers and don’t want anything to do with us!”
Brad and his fiancée Angelina Jolie raise six children together.
The 12 Years a Slave star has taken on more producing work recently so he can spend more time with his wife-to-be and their brood.
He’s often snapped out and about with Angelina and the little ones, but they’ve slowly adapted to a life in the limelight.
“We do a pretty good job protecting our children from that,” he said.
“We have to take detours to go to certain places – and then other places, like the park, are completely off limits, so we try to find a beach where there aren’t too many people. We like to be able to give the kids a feeling of security and privacy as much as we can.”
