Beyoncé, Jay Z lead BET noms

Beyoncé and Jay Z

Beyoncé and Jay Z are leading the pack of BET Awards nominees.

The power couple scored four nods apiece for the upcoming 2014 ceremony celebrating black entertainment.

Beyoncé was named alongside Janelle Monáe, Jhené Aiko, K. Michelle, Rihanna and Tamar Braxton for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist.

Her hit single with husband Jay Z also scored the couple nominations for Best Collaboration and Video of the Year, a category which also names her video for Partition.

In addition to his work with Bey, Jay and Justin Timberlake are nominated for Best Collaboration for their hit single Holy Grail. The rapper is also nominated for Best Male Hip Hop Artist alongside Future, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar and Drake.

The nominations follow just days after video footage emerged appearing to show Beyoncé’s sister, Solange Knowles, attacking Jay Z in an elevator after the Met Gala in New York City.

While the couple have not officially commented on reports of the altercation, Beyoncé took to Instagram Wednesday morning to share photos of herself with her sister, writing a simple: “Good Morning.”

Back at BET Drake, Chris Brown, Pharrell Williams and newcomer August Alsina scored three nominations apiece, including Best New Artist for the hip hop singer from New Orleans, Louisiana.

BET’s President of Music Programming and Specials, Stephen Hill, issued a statement Wednesday congratulating those mentioned, Billboard reports.

“This year’s nominees represent the best of the culture. It’s great to see our talented new artists right alongside our more beloved ones with long careers,” he said.

“We appreciate our BET Awards nomination committee, over 300 strong, for their efforts and congratulate all the nominees.”

The 2014 BET Awards are scheduled to take place June 29 at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. The host of the ceremony is expected to be announced Wednesday night in New York.
