David Beckham was so nervous about appearing in a TV sketch he couldn’t sleep.
The footballer joined iconic British actors David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst of Only Fools And Horses in a Sport Relief charity bit.
And David says he can now “die a happy man” after taking part in the event.
“The day of filming started off with a slightly sleepless night, going over my script. The thought of being on set with Nicholas and David was very nerve-racking,” he said, according to UK newspaper The Sun.
“I’ve never done anything like this before. It wasn’t just about learning the script, it was about delivering it: saying the right things at the right time,” he added, reports The Guardian.
The former England star was raised in London’s East End, which is near where the comedy was set. He was a big fan of the BBC show growing up, and David’s co-stars had nothing but warm words for his acting skills and the overall effort he made.
“When he first read the script he was a bit surprised to have been given so much dialogue and was nervous, understandably, about having to act alongside David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst, but he had no reason to be because his acting and delivery were very good,” writer Jim Sullivan, son of the late Only Fools creator John, told UK newspaper The Guardian.
The Only Fools And Horses sketch will broadcast in the UK on March 21.
